Routes & Roots – Festival of the African Diaspora
To celebrate Halloween and Black History Month, ‘Routes & Roots’ is two weeks of free family-friendly cultural, arts and wellbeing activities & events across Liverpool!
Every October, Katumba holds a range of events across L8 and L1 that culminates with the Katumba Halloween Parade in Liverpool City Centre! Merging a variety of incredible combined arts, we bring professional artists from across the UK to work with the local community in delivering an outdoor, immersive spectacle with themes that refer back to ancient traditions.
This year, we’re reviving our tradition with a twist! Partnering up with other organisations from the newly formed BlaST (Black Social Traders Network)*, we’re delivering ‘Routes & Roots – Festival of the African Diaspora’; two weeks of cultural and wellbeing activities – including the annual Katumba Halloween Carnival – celebrating the heritage, culture and wellbeing practices of people of the African Diaspora during Black History Month, and welcoming the whole community to join in.
